About the Role
As Bharat Forge Ltd scales its Pune operations, the Engineering & Manufacturing practice is onboarding an accomplished Head of Mechanical Engineer Automotive. Based in Pune, you will take direct ownership of enterprise transformation initiatives and delivery governance and drive measurable improvements across strategic program velocity, delivery margin, and customer NPS.
Working at the intersection of Engineering & Manufacturing and regional delivery in Pune, you will collaborate with regional delivery directors, finance partners, and product sponsors to architect senior leadership reviews, board-ready briefings, and escalation pathways and annual operating plans, budget forecasts, and quarterly OKR frameworks. Strong command over Plant Operations, TPM & Kaizen, Production Planning, Lean Manufacturing is essential to sustain strategic program velocity, delivery margin, and customer NPS.
The Head of Mechanical Engineer Automotive position at Bharat Forge Ltd (Pune) carries an annual CTC range of ₹28L – ₹48L per annum (approx. ₹2,33,333 – ₹4,00,000 per month gross), benchmarked to leadership / senior management standards in Engineering & Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Spearhead comprehensive plant manufacturing operations, production planning, and machine capacity utilization for Bharat Forge Ltd.
- Drive Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Kaizen, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing principles across all shop floors.
- Direct plant maintenance, supply chain coordination, equipment uptime, and safety (EHS) compliance.
- Manage plant P&L, operational budgets, capital expenditure (CapEx), and headcount optimization.
- Lead new product industrialization (NPI/NPD), tooling readiness, and SOP milestone gate reviews.
Required Qualifications & Technical Stack
- 10 to 18 years of verified leadership experience in manufacturing, automotive, or industrial plant operations.
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Automobile Engineering (MBA or Six Sigma Black Belt is an advantage).
- Demonstrated expertise in OEE improvement, IATF 16949 quality benchmarks, and plant workforce management.
- Strong commercial acumen, budget oversight, and leadership presence.
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications
- Prior exposure to scaling multi-quarter business unit strategy and operating cadence within Engineering & Manufacturing teams in Pune or comparable Indian enterprise hubs.
- Familiarity with automation workflows, Enterprise ERP & Portfolio Suites and OKR Governance Frameworks, and modern reporting standards.
- Experience mentoring cross-functional contributors or managing end-to-end delivery SLAs.
