About the Role
HDFC Life is expanding its Software Engineering charter in Mumbai, Maharashtra with the addition of a Head of Business Development. Operating within a on-site operational center in Mumbai, Maharashtra, this leadership / senior management mandate centers on multi-quarter business unit strategy and operating cadence while strengthening portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, and margin expansion.
In day-to-day execution, the Head of Business Development partners closely with C-suite executives, practice heads, and global enterprise clients to translate quarterly business priorities into annual operating plans, budget forecasts, and quarterly OKR frameworks. You will leverage Executive BI Dashboards and Enterprise ERP & Portfolio Suites alongside core competencies in Business Development, Executive Leadership, P&L Ownership, Strategic Roadmap to maintain high operational rigor.
The Head of Business Development position at HDFC Life (Mumbai) carries an annual CTC range of ₹28L – ₹48L per annum (approx. ₹2,33,333 – ₹4,00,000 per month gross), benchmarked to leadership / senior management standards in Software Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and scale mission-critical software solutions and distributed systems for HDFC Life.
- Collaborate with Product Management, DevOps, and QA teams to define scalable architecture patterns.
- Champion engineering excellence through thorough code reviews, unit testing, and continuous deployment.
- Drive performance tuning, latency optimization, and robust API design.
Required Qualifications & Technical Stack
- 10–18 years of hands-on professional experience in relevant domain.
- Bachelor's / Master's degree in engineering or relevant academic discipline.
- Proven track record in driving scalable results, team leadership, and stakeholder management.
- Strong analytical problem-solving capabilities and exceptional communication skills.
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications
- Prior exposure to scaling portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, and margin expansion within Software Engineering teams in Mumbai or comparable Indian enterprise hubs.
- Familiarity with automation workflows, Executive BI Dashboards and Enterprise ERP & Portfolio Suites, and modern reporting standards.
- Experience mentoring cross-functional contributors or managing end-to-end delivery SLAs.

Annual CTC is structured between ₹28 Lakhs and ₹48 Lakhs per annum (approx. ₹2,33,333 – ₹4,00,000/month) based on interview performance, Business Development & Executive Leadership depth, and 10 to 18 years of progressive experience.
