About the Role
As Walmart Global Tech India scales its Chennai operations, the All Categories (Multi-Domain Omni-Feed) practice is onboarding an accomplished SENIOR, SOFTWARE ENGINEER. Based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, you will take direct ownership of low-latency production systems and modular frontend/backend architectures and drive measurable improvements across defect escape rate, code review turnaround, and throughput scalability.
In day-to-day execution, the SENIOR, SOFTWARE ENGINEER partners closely with DevOps platform teams, security engineers, and UX designers to translate quarterly business priorities into technical architecture RFCs, schema designs, and API contract specifications. You will leverage Modern Cloud Stacks (AWS/Azure/GCP) and Automated CI/CD Pipelines alongside core competencies in Problem Solving, Team Collaboration, System Design, TypeScript / Java / Python to maintain high operational rigor.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct periodic diagnostic audits on defect escape rate, code review turnaround, and throughput scalability and present data-backed optimization recommendations to Walmart Global Tech India leadership.
- Design, review, and publish technical architecture RFCs, schema designs, and API contract specifications while maintaining strict governance across defect escape rate, code review turnaround, and throughput scalability.
- Apply hands-on expertise in Problem Solving, Team Collaboration, System Design and Modern Cloud Stacks (AWS/Azure/GCP) and Automated CI/CD Pipelines to elevate output quality and execution speed.
- Mentor peers and junior contributors within the All Categories (Multi-Domain Omni-Feed) pod, fostering high accountability and continuous process improvement at Walmart Global Tech India.
- Lead low-latency production systems and modular frontend/backend architectures for Walmart Global Tech India's All Categories (Multi-Domain Omni-Feed) function in Chennai, ensuring full alignment with quarterly delivery roadmaps.
Required Qualifications & Technical Stack
- Proven track record of owning technical architecture RFCs, schema designs, and API contract specifications and driving measurable gains in defect escape rate, code review turnaround, and throughput scalability.
- 4 to 8 years of progressive experience in All Categories (Multi-Domain Omni-Feed) or closely aligned roles comparable to SENIOR, SOFTWARE ENGINEER.
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills for collaborating with DevOps platform teams, security engineers, and UX designers in a Onsite setup in Chennai.
- Demonstrated hands-on proficiency in Problem Solving, Team Collaboration, System Design, TypeScript / Java / Python within a fast-paced enterprise or high-growth environment.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent practical industry experience required for Mid-Senior Level roles.
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications
- Prior exposure to scaling distributed application services and resilient API gateways within All Categories (Multi-Domain Omni-Feed) teams in Chennai or comparable Indian enterprise hubs.
- Familiarity with automation workflows, Modern Cloud Stacks (AWS/Azure/GCP) and Automated CI/CD Pipelines, and modern reporting standards.
- Experience mentoring cross-functional contributors or managing end-to-end delivery SLAs.
